Monroe, Shelton, Guillen
Craig Monroe is back in the lineup at DH, in no small part because he’s 5-for-6 lifetime against Rays starter Mark Hendrickson with a homer and five RBIs. The hope is that he’ll be ready to play the field again by this weekend’s series at Wrigley, where they won’t have the DH and need players available for pinch-hitting and double-switching. Even if he isn’t ready, though, there’s no plans to put him on the DL.
Chris Shelton is batting eighth at first base. Carlos Guillen is back at shortstop for the first time since last Friday.

When will Shelton learn that 90% of the time pitcher is going to start him off with a fastball right down the middle? He is starting 0-1 most of the time because of this and then he is behind in the count. As a result, he then swings at pitches in his eyes to strikeout because he has to defend the plate.
Also, when will Inge quit swinging for the fences everytime and start getting some hits to raise that average?
Looks like Jones has worn out his welcome at Comerica. I know some will say I’m negative about this but come on–call a spade a spade. He can’t do the job, and he is letting his teammates down. Another fantastic effort by Bonderman that ends in a Tiger loss. The worst thing is that if this is allowed to coninue it will become demoralizing to some of the other players.
Jones has now lost 20% of the Tigers’ losses
Jones obviously has something wrong with him … send him down to the Hens … keep him there … nobody wants to see him come in anymore (not for TWO innings … sheesh) …
Also, Craig Monroe is nowhere near ready to come back and play … he wasn’t really ready before he got hurt … when it came time for Monroe to bat in the extra innings, Leyland should have put Gomez in for him …
Them three are better than any three on the whole Brewers team
