Seay out, Ledezma in
After the game, the Tigers called up Wilfredo Ledezma from Triple-A Toledo and designated Bobby Seay for assignment. Ledezma will be used out of the bullpen, most likely as a combination situational lefty and long reliever depending on what they need.
Monroe, Shelton, Guillen
Craig Monroe is back in the lineup at DH, in no small part because he’s 5-for-6 lifetime against Rays starter Mark Hendrickson with a homer and five RBIs. The hope is that he’ll be ready to play the field again by this weekend’s series at Wrigley, where they won’t have the DH and need players available for pinch-hitting and double-switching. Even if he isn’t ready, though, there’s no plans to put him on the DL.
Chris Shelton is batting eighth at first base. Carlos Guillen is back at shortstop for the first time since last Friday.
